Dr. Truumees is internationally recognized as a leader in spine surgery

Dr. Truumees’ research and academic work has included more than 15 NIH and industry-sponsored multicenter trials, which generated over 30 peer-reviewed publications of original research, 40 invited publications, 50 chapters and monographs and two books. Dr. Truumees has given more than 200 national and international presentations, lectureships and instructorships.

With his partners in Austin, and with colleagues around the world, Dr. Truumees remains actively involved in spine research. Our spine center has three active trials. He has published widely in journals such as Spine, Medical Engineering & Physics, The Spine Journal, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery - British Volume and many more. Recently, Dr. Truumees and his partners completed an "Essential Technique" guide on microdiscectomy surgery for The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Essential Surgical Techniques. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles and textbook chapters.

Dr. Eeric Truumees is an international expert in the field of spine surgery. He has been asked to speak on virtually every continent about advances in spine care. He is a past president of the North American Spine Society, the largest international group of spine physicians, as well as serving as an editor of their spine research journal for several years. With an active spine practice at Texas Spine and Scoliosis in Austin, Texas, he is also a full professor at the University of Texas’ Dell Medical School training future spine surgeons.
